Mycat loves water too. He doesn't like getting wet, but he loves splashing about in water. In fact, he likes it so much that we have to leave a tap running in the bath for his to drink from cause he spills his water bowl by splashing it. A bit annoying, but fortunately we live in Scotland, so no shortage of water!

And yes, he does splash about in the toilet, but that's very rare cause we always close the lid (have done since he was a kitten, cause my friend's kitten drowned in the toilet once). He also likes watching us wash up, the fish tank, the washing machine and the toaster!

At one year old your cat, although no longer considered a kitten, is very cat. They play like kids do and obviously your cat found something that its enjoying.

I used to have a cat that for some reason, and not all the time, would look at its reflection in its water bowl and then take one paw, put it under the bowl and dump the water on the floor. I think it thought it was getting rid of another cat.

As for learning this from watching your bird take a bath, stranger things have happened. Its a curious thought though and I would not discount the idea.

Keep your camera ready. You are in for some treats.

My cat does the same thing with the toilet... and he gets water all over the toilet seat. Can't tell you how unpleasant it is to find yourself sitting on wet toilet seat! We've learned to keep the lid down on the toilet to prevent this and it's worked well so far, just a slight inconvenience. I think mostly the cat is just bored and looking for something to play with.

Believe it or not some cats just like water.
Anything that moves gets their attention.
Our kitten likes to jump in the shower,
he doesn't mind getting all wet and then
goes running all over the house. First
I thought he was just falling in. Now I see
he just likes to try and catch the water drops.

Silly-- I think that your cat is physco, cats usually don't like water that much. Get the video camera out so that you can have a good laugh with your friends

Most cats are more drawn to moving water than their still water dishes. Instinctually, moving water means it is fresher. And yes, toliets do seem to count as moving water to most cats.

Mine also likes to play in it... He's fallen in a couple of times, which is alright since he's bigger now. But when he was a small kitten I'd always keep the seat down just in case he got himself stuck.

Christmas trees and their stands are a wonder to most cats since they're new to their environment. He's just checking it out, getting used to it, and reaping the benefits of fresh water. Cats are silly.

HI! That's a little funny for a cat but that's good. Maybe it's a way of cooling himself down when he is hot. He must be really cute. He may have possibly learnt it from the birds and since he is only 1, it is most likely. Say hi to your kitty for me!!
