I live in a concrete jungle.. a town house, my back yard is all patio with brick planter boxes its about 15×20 all blocked walls..My indoor cats loves to look out the sliding window at birds. One day a cat was all fixated on something right below the screen door. I looked to see what it was and it was a HUGE LONG SNAKE moving along the screen door base, it was doubled up to half his size moving slowly. I couldn’t see its tail so since it had same type of markings as a rattle snake to a novice I FREAKED!!! I kept still until I saw his tail it didn’t have a rattle on the tail thank GOODNESS! Troubling part is he eyeballed me, I mean he was NOT scared in the least, he kept coming to us. I didn’t go out back for 3 days, I was so scared, big chicken here.. I did looked up snakes and it looked like a gopher snake, are they really that fearless? How the heck did he get here? Since I live in a townhouse only opening is one inch between the house and the block wall from house to house.. I called my neighbor to see if her son lost a snake but she said nope.. This experience is so weird to me how he got here and why he was so fearless…. Any ideas?
concrete jungle as in a city!
Funny thing I have lived here since 1999. Never saw a snake before. I did notice the lizards on my block walls all dissapeared for a month or so. Maybe the snake was following the lizards for food and ended up here? Do they move around to follow food?
West Coast town house

my home has a u shaped area next to the walkway that leads to my front door. it is currently being used as landscaping, flower beds but it just doesnt look right to me. its plain and the mulch is always going onto the sidewalk. I was thinking of making a small patio area, maybe add a bench or fountain or bird bath..something that will look great even though its a small space…I want opinions/advice as to what I should put there – what would be the easiest do it yourself project b/c I dont think I can find anyone who would want to fool with it b/c its so small of an area….Its about 10 x 8 approx?

Lots of leaves fall from a nearby tree so small pea gravel is not an option b/c I could never keep it clean..it has to be something I could sweep or blow off easily.

There are a lot of water fountains available in the market these days. Some of the water fountains look like pouring jugs, humming birds, angels, and so on. The job of a fountain designer is to create a fountain that looks elegant and also lasts for a very long time. The fountain designer starts by first drawing a sketch of the fountain and he or she decides on how the water fountains are going to look and how they are going to sound. If you want some real good information on the creation of water fountains, you can visit clayartisan.com.

This website not only provides the general guidelines but also gives you the steps in details on how a dove fountain can be built. Many people prefer the ceramic fountains compared to the other ones that are available and that is because the ceramic one are long lasting if they are properly taken care of. If you don’t like the ceramic water fountains that are available in the market then you can order a custom ceramic water fountain.

In addition to ceramic water fountains, the concrete fountains are also in great demand for their elegance and toughness. The concrete fountains are built in places that are susceptible to physical damage by reckless visitors, mischievous children, and other miscreants. Contrary to popular demand, the concrete fountains look very elegant. One of the major advantages of the concrete fountains is that they need very less maintenance. You may have to be on a constant watch if you have concrete fountains in your patio or backyard.

Regular cleaning of the concrete fountains will guarantee a clean and stylish look because during the rains the concrete fountains has a inclination of attracting a lot of insects and algae. Concrete fountains are not only meant for the outdoors but can be kept indoors as well, so these concrete fountains not only add beauty to your patio and backyard but inside your house as well. The indoor concrete fountains add an artistic look to your interior decoration of your house. The concrete fountains inside your house will not need to take as much as care, as you do for the concrete outdoors.

Some backyards have a very large landscaped lawns and most of these lawns have a very barren and empty look and there is nothing that looks attractive for the onlookers. The best way to attract the eyeballs of the onlookers would be is to install concrete fountains. You can install these fountains depending on the size you’re your lawn, if you have a square shaped lawn then the concrete water fountain can be placed right in the middle of the lawn. Make sure to select a water fountain that in proportion to the size of your lawn.

If you have a very large lawn and install a very small fountain and like wise if you have a small lawn and install a very big fountain will not make sense and look good. You will have to plan the area of the lawn carefully and if necessary you can get professional help. Cleaning would be the next step that you would do after you install your concrete water fountain in your lawn. It costs very less to maintain a concrete water fountain but when it gets dirty and stained you do have to clean it.

Some people hesitate to buy outdoor water fountains if they are staying in cold countries. During winters, the snow plays a spoil sport and takes away the beauty of the garden or patio. Does this mean that if there is snow, you should not construct outdoor water fountains? Definitely not, with a little care and maintenance, you can take care of the outdoor water fountains even during the winter months.

The best way to take care of your concrete water fountain during the winter months would be to first drain out all the water from the fountain and disconnect the pump that connects to the concrete water fountains and keep the pump indoors for better protection. Once this is done cover the pump and keep it in some dry place inside the house. Then finally you can take a fountain cover and cover the fountain and make sure that the entire fountain is covered with the fountain cover. If you have a portable water fountain then you can keep it indoors for better protection.
