There is a bird’s nest in the top corner of our metal car covering. There are babies in the nest, already hatched, but one has fallen out. I used a piece of cardboard to shimmy the baby back into the nest so that I wouldn’t touch it, but the next day it was out again. So I repeated. This birdie has fallen three times. The nest is above concrete, and up about six feet. Is this little birdie going to meet its maker, or will it live to see another day?

I think it might be very close to being a fledgling, as it had a few feathers, but there were still fuzzy parts on its belly.
I saw said birdie fall the last time, and there was a soft plop. I mean….it’s six feet up and he/she (idk) hit concrete, so…
Joooooooooooooooooooon…..I don’t know if the bird has pre-existing heart conditions or not, but I’m pretty sure that me being hetero will not effect its fal.
Carol, I hope you’re talking about Jooo, because the fact that I even took the time to ask this question should let you know I care.

i have an outside lattice covered patio atop concrete slab that leads to our pool…… an hour ago, while picking up dog poo , i came upon a baby bird which had fallen from its nest made inside our latice covered patio… we tried to return it to its nest (using a dust pan so as not to touch the little guy) but it didnt work. so i found a box, shredded some paper for a nest and transfered it from dust pan to box and placed him in the planter. using a coffee grinder i ground some bird seed, added water & tried feeding it cuz it kept opening its mouth wide …. he got a little of my many attempts giving him food, then it looked like he wanted to go to sleep in the paper nest made for him. so i covered the box 3/4 of the way. Now what??? will he just die??? will mom return??? or should i start feeling guilty each time i hear a chirp.? i work, have other animals that need me & dont know what else to do? any suggestions????? help

I’m so lucky to have a barn swallow nest above my front door for the 2nd year in a row. This is their 2nd clutch of eggs. I stepped out and saw a tiny baby bird (still eyes closed) on the concrete below covered in ants. It was still moving and so I got a ladder and put it back in its nest. When I make noise its 3 siblings peek out for food but I don’t see him. It’s only a few short days old from what I would guess.

Did I do the right thing? Suddenly I’m worried that if it dies up there, that it will attract parasites or something yucky that will harm the healthy birds. Or will Mom and Dad push it out?

Thanks,
