Just tried this with my budgie, worked a treat! Cheers dude!
Nice video. Thanks for sharing it. God bless.
@Xtoxina cocoa is not a parakeet…
lol cocoa doesn’t look like a parakeet xD
my parakeet keeps trying to bath in his water container (on the side of the cage), im thinking about getting one of these cage bath things (one that is big enough) but hope he manages to like it like your bird, he wont bath in anything else we put in the cage like a bowl or container of shallow water at the bottom, hope he uses one of these if we get it!
I also forgot, i also have a canary, he is 11 years old, he doesnt sing anymore, and he barely tweets. He got atatcked by a cat a few months ago, could that be related?
I had a bowl, with 3 or 4 goldfish, at home and i ahd a budgie that took baths in it. When he got a new bowl, that could close, he got very upset.
I have one of those old bird baths and my parakeets hated it. They were scared of it and never got in it. They prefer to take baths in their water cups or a bird bath that sits at the bottom of the cage. My finches love the little bird baths or cups also
It’s nice to think that Mr Peaches didn’t die alone.
My canary, Mr. Peaches, was in much the same condition as your Coco with the head rolling and dwelling on the bottom of the cage. He died a couple months ago. He was smart enough to avoid windows so he was always allowed the run of the house (supervised) and sang up a storm. He shared a cage with my dove for his last years and enjoyed her company – they were best friends. My dove’s lonely w/o him, so I hope to add a new member to our avian family soon. Anyhow, I’m glad to see that you still
Great vid…keep it up….
Oh my. Coco had a wonderful little voice. What a shame, but it’s good to know he had had a happy life with a knowing caretaker such as yourself.
Yeah I had been using a mister but they just looked at me, and never started to preen themselves or anything.
I tried flicking the water from the bird bath at the budgie George today and only tiny bits reached him. You must have a better range than I do. lol.
I’ll try again tomorrow.
Rocky is still not that keen to go in the bird bath, but loves to have a splashing time in an turned up jar top of water in my hand.
Ah I have the same problem. I’ve been lightly misting the budgie and cockatiel because neither will go in their bird baths. So I’ll have to try what you did and see if that makes a difference.
Great vid. :O)
how old is Rocky now.he is very beautiful.
Of course, budgies are clever and have a good memory, and he never got himself that wet during his baths after that. And I never let him bath in a bowl full of parsleys again. I’d fill a deep plate with water, take the bird out of the cage and bring him to the kitchen, and show him the water in the plate by splashing with my fingers. He’d immediately jump into the plate. He only loved to bath in the kitchen next to the sink.
He suddenly jumped into the bowl, and I took my hands out to see what would happen, and he started playing with the water and chewing the parsleys at the same time, and he would open his wings wide to soak his “armpits”. Five minutes later, when he was finished with his first bath, he took off to fly away but his feathers were too much loaded with water and he’d almost smash on the floor.
Frank, I love your videos! Thanks for posting them. The first time my parakeet (budgie) took a bath voluntarily, I was rinsing a large bunch of parsleys in a plastic washbowl in the kitchen sink. The birdie was sitting on the marble next to the sink and watching me carefully and wanting to eat up all the parsleys (yes, he loved parsleys very much just like he loved anything green).
that song is stunning by the way you are a really smart man and i love your accent its really cool nice video
Ah yes, I have a few clips of Coco, but they need to be kept private for one reason or another. As a young bird, his song was stunning!
I was looking for a coco video after what happend. And I found him at the end of this video. He was Beautiful! And his song beautiful too. It was a sweet suprise
Hey it’s only one bird (well as I can see)
you really ought to look into something more appropriately sized. His cage really isn’t all that big.
Aww that made me tear up at all the love you give to your elderly bird. Most people these days wont even care for their aging human family so it always touches me when someone loves and cares for and older animal. God Bless you and your little birdies! Steve and Ruby send their budgie love.
