I have the same problem you should at lease try to care for it or it will die.Look it up on the enter net if you do you will be like a hero

For now you could just feed it a little bit of dog or cat food off the end of a stick or fork if you have pets, keep it warm (Not too warm) and in the morning or whenever you can take it to a RSCPA or someone who could look after animals who have been injured or abandoned.
My mums friend looks after animals like that.

If you know where it fell out, you could put it back if possible, or put it in a shelter like a box near it’s nest and off the ground. The mother will eventually come back to it, unless you take it. If it has wounds, then you can nurse it back to health for a few days- but then the mother would be gone.

Probably fell out of its nest. You can try to keep it warm or see if you can find the nest and put it back in. If you mess around with it too much the mother bird won’t come back to it!! I have had so many baby birds die on me and it can be heartbreaking especially after you’ve done all that you could to help it. The mother bird is around and probably feeding it while you aren’t watching it. The best thing you can do is to try and return it to the nest or if you can’t find the nest it fell from keep it out of range of dogs and cats. Maybe line a box with old towels and place it high in a tree where the parents can find it.

But remember: it is spring and for every baby bird that has hatched about two thirds of them will die. It sounds cruel, but that’s Nature. The reason a bird lays so many eggs is that most of the babies will die and only one or two from the “clutch” will survive. Otherwise, we’d be up to our armpits in birds!! Sometimes the parent bird, knowing something is physically wrong with the baby will throw it out of the nest to kill it.

Maybe the RSPCA has time to take care of “nestlings” but I’ve never found them to be that sympathetic over here in the States to baby birds. They have too many other animals to worry about.

Bless you for your concern and good intentions.

If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it’s own and it’s parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly. You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it. If it is unfeathered…then look for a nest and if you can find it…replace it into the nest. Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched. If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it’s best chance of survival. Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own. Look for a rehab here:
