How Cold Can Parakeet Endure?

I have a room that have a electric coil that doesn’t alway heat up.
I have two windows that are basically old medium like quality. You can feel the coldness if your hand were very close to the windows.
In the corner of my bedroom, I have the small cabinet table with my bird cage that have my lovely 3 parakeets.
The ceiling isn’t too high and the wall are concrete like material.
How cold can they endure in my bedroom? My bedroom is almost small.
This is the room that I sleep in and wake up.
The main thing you want to avoid is to expose them to sudden temperature changes that are more than about 10 degrees. Our birds are usually comfortable in the same temperature we enjoy. Of course if it gets so cold in your room that you have to pile on the blankets and still shiver, then it’s too cold for them. A ballpark figure is don’t ask them to put up with anything less than about 60F. Colder than that is not going to be good at all. Do you cover their cage at night? If not, I would start doing it. If it’s still pretty cold during the day, keep the top and 3 sides of it covered. You can also put a heating pad under the cage and only at the rear half. Make sure they cannot reach the pad or it’s cord. Put it on the lowest setting. You only want it under half because they must be able to get away from the heat source if they get too warm. Overheating can be as bad and getting too chilled. I hope this helps.
We used to take our parakeet on vacation and the cabin would get down to 50 for a few hours in the night. We covered it so it didn’t get drafts. I’m always worried when I say cover that people will forget to allow air in so their bird can breathe. Don’t use your best towel, budgies like to chew and pull strings. We always took our birds where we were in the house, but I guess if you have three your cage is a little too big to haul around. For extra heat we use an oil radiator set on low, but we turn it off when we leave the house. My Mom used to say that the worst thing with Budgies is drafts, so work on that first. Good luck, they say it is going to be extra cold this winter.
