If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it’s own and it’s parents are caring for it. You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it. If it is unfeathered…then look for a nest and if you can find it…replace it into the nest. Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched. If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it’s best chance of survival. Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.

Follow the advice of everyone telling you to call the local rehabilitator. Also, please know that most birds are protected by law, and you can get into a heap of trouble if caught with one in your possession, if you aren’t a licensed rehabber.

put it in the nest. and if feed it cut up worms.

i had the same problem. except there were two birds and no mother. and we dug up worms, cut them into little pieces and fed them to the birds with a fork. but we put back into the nest, [we used our hands cause the mother didn't come back for several hours]. we took care of them for like a month or so, and then they were able to fly and get out of the nest. well one got killed, cause it flew into the front yard, and got bit by a snake, but the other it gone, should still be alive.

what size of baby? if its about ready to fly mom will still care for it…this is why it was pushed/fell outta nest. she will come and feed it still just let it be…and keep the dogs away from it…….also a type for bird would be helpful. robin…ect….u could try to call a wildlife place..park…ect.

Are the parents still feeding it? Usually baby birds only chirp when the parents are around. If the parents are taking care of it, don’t worry about it.
And that’s an old wives tale, you can touch baby birds (birds can’t smell).

Well i had that hqappen to me once and i fed it noodles like as in chicken noodle soup just the noodles there soft ant look like worms to them.

This is from a question that mumbles posted a few hours ago. He has been a licensed rehabber for the past 10 years.
“I have been reading through all the different questions and advice about what to do if you find a baby bird. Please if you do not know 100% what to do then please don’t answer, you could be killing the baby bird.

1. Leave it alone unless it is in danger (cat or dog)
2. If you must move place in box & keep warm.
3. Call a licensed Wild Life rehabber.
4. Never, Never try and feed yourself
5. Vets, non-emergency police can give you number for rehabbers in your area.”

That happened to me once, we found a number for this girl who takes care of animals like that. She nurses them back to health and releases them back into the wild, try to find a person like that to give the bird to.

Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator immediately! You can find one here: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.htm

They have the training and the resources to care for sick, injured and orphaned wild animals. They also have the proper permits to keep the animals.

Please do not attempt to feed the baby, or give it water. If you have no training, you can do it improperly and kill the bird.

not much you can do as the mother had a reason for pushing him out. the chances of you nuturing it back to health is slim and it will most likely die…sorry that is just nature’s survival of the fittest. do a search for raising wild birds or something like that and maybe they can give you more info. good luck.
